Ed Bock and Pedestrian Carved Acrylic figures

I have started working on a series of images based on photographs of the pedestrian pathway signs along the walking path of Hudson River Park in New York City.  The signs intrigued me as they are of a universal generic walking pedestrian symbol painted onto the pathway using a stencil and yet due to application and weathering no 2 images are alike.  I have been using these figurative shapes pulled from the sidewalk to carve shapes out of white acrylic panels and use the carved panel as if it were a shaped canvas.   Currently I am interested in poured paint abstract images given life by the figurative shapes.
